My name is Barbara Petersen and I am running for re-election to the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education in District 4. I ran for this position because after working as a teacher in Albuquerque Public Schools for over 30 years, I wanted our schools to give children what they need.

While the past 4 years have been challenging at times when we had increasing needs with decreasing resources, I'm proud of the victories we have accomplished for our children. Not only did we keep open all our schools, but, together with a supportive and active community, we developed a collaborative model for transforming other schools as well. Art and music have expanded as has the investment in Community Schools. And for the first time in over a decade, educators can look forward to a meaningful raise and a more respectful environment.
