Christen for Democratic National Committeewoman (DNC)
On March 27, 2020, the Young Democrats of America will be embarking on another chapter in the legacy of the organization by electing a new Democratic National Committeewoman. As a member of the National Committee, it is my honor to put forth my candidacy to serve the organization.

2020 marks a defining moment in American politics. Young Democrats will make up 37% of the voting electorate while holding only 0.2% of the elected positions in the United States. With widening inequalities, crippling student debt and a climate crisis, the next generation of Americans is faced with unique challenges that require bold solutions. The calling is resounding and evident: Young Democrats must lead. The next century will begin with a new President and define our destiny. The Young Democrats of America have a responsibility to take this as an opportunity to elect a bold leader defined by its organization’s values to the Democratic National Committee. Leadership should be defined by actions on behalf of the organization, not self-interest. The fate of millions of Americans depends on what we do in this very moment.

My leadership is defined by courage and judgment rooted in the fundamental belief of equality, justice and dignity for all people. I believe in the Democratic Party being a vessel for policy rooted in community and defined by peace and liberty, not special interests.

Currently, I serve on the National Committee of the Young Democrats of America as well as on the Board of the California Young Democrats - a 10, 000 member youth organization. As the Immediate Past President to the Black Los Angeles Democrats I spent years focused on civically engaging and informing the youth vote while helping build their political power and leadership. Recognized for my leadership I am an inaugural 2018-2019 CORO Lead LA Fellow, working with emerging leaders across the sectors of philanthropy, government, industry and non- profits to create solutions for some of Los Angeles' biggest challenges in the areas of civic engagement, education, criminal justice reform and the environment and an Empowerment Congress Emerging Leader Council 40 under 40 Awardee.

You deserve a leader with experience running Democratic organizations, political operations and meeting strategic goals. Democratic leaders should be those that take strong action, follow through on promises, and offers specific steps to address our many challenges to move the Young Democrats of America forward. I seek to be that leader as I pursue my candidacy to join the ranks of leadership of the Democratic National Committee.

Should you have questions, ideas or concerns feel free to reach out via email at team@christenforyda.com. I look forward to hearing your concerns, integrating your feedback in my approach and beginning this journey to the Democratic National Committee, together.

Democratically Yours,

Christen Hebrard
