Cody married the love of his life and high school sweet-heart Ashley Mayer in October of 2018. Cody and Ashley are Marquette residents that are joyfully expecting the birth of their daughter Arya in March. Cody and Ashley are also both members of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Cody is currently a senior at Northern Michigan University majoring in public administration and a minor in economics and intends to graduate in May.
Cody has devoted his life to serving his community and country, which is why at seventeen years old he enlisted into the Michigan Army National Guard. He has been an enlisted soldier for over five years now and currently holds the rank of Sergeant. Cody's showed how much he cares for the upper peninsula when he volunteered to assist the Houghton community when a state-of-emergency was called during the floods in 2018. Cody immediately volunteered and was activated with in 48 hours.
Cody is a youth leader in the community as the former two term student body President of Northern Michigan University representing and leading over 7,000 students while working closely with faculty and administrators on numerous committees. As President he focused on and achieved real results in the following key areas, youth voting rights, assisting NMU's veteran students, campus mental health, connecting NMU with the Marquette community, sustainability, and diversity.
Cody is committed to serving our community and is a youth leader who knows how to get things done. It's time for the next generation of leadership.
