I am a parent of two Parkland kids, a successful business leader, and a local community volunteer. I am deeply involved within the school community as a member of the Parkland Education Foundation Board, Community Advisory Council, and Multicultural Awareness Committee. I am also the administrator of the Parkland Parents online forum where parents help support each other in this difficult academic year.
I believe that the embracement of the arts, academics, and athletics is key to a well-balanced education and the future success of our children. In order to encourage critical thinking, I support opportunities for students to explore different realms through vocational training, college counseling, or any alternate paths.
An effective school board director needs to volunteer a lot of personal time and effort to make sure Parkland’s financial, academic, and sport excellence is not only sustained but improved. I am fully committed to spending the time to serve the needs of our district. With additional weight added by the pandemic, Parkland School district has to manage a complex set of logistical challenges. I plan to work with administration and parents alike to ensure that our students are receiving the best education possible. My experience in using technology to solve complex business problems uniquely prepares me for this challenge and will enable me to achieve the same success for the district.
I am an alternate member of the Upper Macungie zoning hearing board and also serve on the Lehigh county personnel review board. With my volunteer efforts for the American Cancer Society, GBSL soccer, Springhouse Science Olympiad team, and Allentown temple, I continue to give back to the local community that I am both privileged to be part of and hope to represent. My high schooler recently asked me recently if anyone who looks like her has ever been on the Parkland board. I researched and have not been able to find many people of color who have been elected on the Parkland board. If elected, I will be the first Indian American.
