Commissioners Mike Pipe and Mark Higgins are running for re-election to build on the progress made in Centre County. From battling the opioid epidemic to safeguarding elections, from investing in job creation to supporting first responders, Mike & Mark are fighting for Centre County.
“Over the past three years, Mark and I have worked together as a team to find solutions to the challenges facing Centre County,” Mike said. “With the help of residents, other elected officials and over 550 County
employees, we have increased services without increasing property taxes.”
Pipe, who has served on the Board since 2012, added that the County has increased transparency, funded libraries at historic levels, made record investments in transportation safety projects, allocated millions of dollars in 9-1-1 improvements, and enhanced services for seniors and veterans.
“Working with Mike and County staff, we have utilized my business turnaround expertise to save the taxpayers of Centre County millions of dollars,” Higgins said. “Supporting and highlighting local entrepreneurs and small businesses who create family-sustaining jobs in our community has been a top priority for me since joining the board. I’m proud of our efforts to strengthen our economy by working with all of our local chambers of commerce, supporting local startups through County-supported incubators and creating grants to help companies grow in Centre County.”
If re-elected, Pipe and Higgins said they will continue to prioritize creating a safer Centre County community, building an economy that works for everyone, restoring trust in local government, and protecting the environment.
“Working together as a team, we have made a lot of progress,” Pipe said. “We need to keep that momentum going. We are asking the voters of Centre County to join our team and support us in 2019 and beyond.”
